This Global Learning Project will offer you the chance to work with people of other regions of the world to share experiences about earthquakes, and to learn how to deal with them before, during, and after.  See how others prepare, experience, and continue life after the big one hits. You will also post your individual plans on this website where people from other “Ring of Fire” countries can read and share their thoughts, experiences, and feelings. There will be opportunities for all to collaborate together to create a master plan, and to share tips to keep each other safe during that time when the earth moves, and to communicate needs after an earthquake hits.

Are you ready for the Big One?

This project will meet many ISTE standards and common core standards and can be used in the classroom to facilitate learning.  All students can collaborate to create a useful tool for the common good of others.  Students will know how to determine the epicenter of an earthquake, and know how the effects of an earthquake on any region vary, depending on the size of the earthquake, the distance of the region from the epicenter, the local geology, and the type of construction in the region.  To participate all you need is an Internet connection, computer laptop with word processing abilities, web cam, web encyclopedia.  Join today!

Glogster Poster

Participants will sign up and create an Earthquake Informational poster using Glogster.com.  Research and post information that will be useful for you and others to prepare for the effects of earthquakes, before, during, and after.  Once completed it will be displayed in the media area of this website for other to see and comment on.

Written Preparedness Plan

After completing your research create a presentation in written form to convey how people can be prepared for an earthquake event.  Be sure to be specific to the region of the world you live.  You plan will be posted to this website for others to view and comment on.

Public Service Announcements

Advanced users may create an audio/visual presentation using Voice Thread, Podomatic, or any other method of their choice.  Completed presentations will be posted to this website for others to view and comment on.
