What to do Before, During, and After an Earthquake

What would you do before, during, and after an earthquake?  There are many ways to stay safe. This is how we stay safe before,  during, and after an earthquake.

Before an earthquake you should check if you have a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit, a battery powered radio, a flashlight, and extra batteries. These items will help you when the earthquake happens. You should also have nothing on the shelf so nothing falls on you.Learn the plan of your evacuation so you can get out safely. You  also need to learn the earthquake plan of your school or work, you also need to learn how to turn off gas, water, and electricity, you also need to learn first aid to help others if they have injuries.

During  an earthquake you should hide under any sturdy furniture so if an earthquake happens nothing will happen to you. If your inside you should stay inside and if you are outside you should stay outside. Stay in a clear area and don’t cause a fire. If you are in a car, stop it pull over and stay inside. Don’t get out. If you are in a school, work, or any building that has two or more stories, and you are up stairs in the building you should never use the elevator.

After an earthquake you should check if you have any injuries, if so, use the first aid kit. Stay away from the beach because the earthquake could cause a tsunami and you can get hurt badly. Don’t use your phone instead use a radio to hear for any aftershocks that may happen after the earthquake or other announcements that may happen. Make sure no pipes are broken or damaged because if they leak you will have a big problem, especially if they contain gas or water in the pipe. Stay away from damaged buildings because they could collapse on you and you can get hurt.

In conclusion, these are things you can do before, during, and after an earthquake. Learning how to turn off gas water and electricity is something you can do before an earthquake. Something you can do during an earthquake is if you are outside in a car you should pull over and stay inside your car until the earthquake is over. Checking yourself or anyone else for injuries is something you should do after an earthquake. Theses are all things you should do before, during, and after an earthquake.
